I was born and raised in Nova Scotia. When I was 25 years old I decided to change my career. After living in Halifax for a number of years, and with the support of my family, I went back to school. After receiving my BA in Community Studies, I graduated from Carleton University with my Master of Social Work. Prior to opening my private practice in September 2017, my years of employment with Child Welfare (Alberta/Ontario) and the National Defense (Nova Scotia) allowed me to engage with individuals, couples and families through crises and change. I engage in professional development opportunities on a regular basis to ensure I provide my clients with accurate, innovative and researched therapeutic approaches. I have a special interest in trauma. I love working with individuals and couples in discovering respectful, authentic and healthy approaches for issues impacting their lives. I am a registered member of the Nova Scotia College of Social Work (NSCSW), EMDRIA and EMDR Canada. I am currently part of the NSCSW's Council, as well as the Professional Development and Standards Committees. I look forward to meeting you in the future. Cheers, April
